The Final Word game review
R.I.P.
This game was so arcade perfect IMHO, that I about lost it when the first time I sat down to play it and I actually timed-out at the exact same place that I did in the arcade version. A definite must for racing fans on the Dreamcast, this game is everything from the arcade and more, including up to 19 different car types as well as the ability to modify your car. Also, the game has 12 additional courses above the arcade for a total of 16. Sega Rally 2 also has lots of other cool features such as demonstration modes for each of the cars that shows it in action while giving an overall historical commentary about the vehicle. While some of the added features didn't necessarily enhance the overall gameplay of the title, they were nice "extras".
Playcontrol was perfect, with no complaints. Sound was top notch as well except for that stupid voice over "...very hard easy right maybe!". Oh sure you can change it to a female voice, but all that did was make it harder to hear because it seemed to be speaking at a lower volume level. Music was good, graphics were as I've already stated, arcade perfect. Oh, I've heard some people whining about some tiny spots of slowdown in the game, but to be honest, I haven't seen it.
So far this is probably the best racing game for the system, with a far greater play life than it's predecessor. Just the added features over the arcade alone are enough to keep you busy for some time. If you liked the arcade version, or the previous version on the Saturn, then this game is a must.
