Super Mario Kart -- Nintendo

Very fast, very fun, and very Mario, Super Mario Kart is a new racing game for the SNES. Players can choose from 8 different characters, including Mario, Princess Toadstool, Bowser, and Donkey Kong Jr. Players can challenge the computer, or they can challenge each other in a split screen two-player mode. A Grand Prix mode is included, as well as a battle mode where players are armed with Koopa shells and bannana peels. Many different tracks taken directly from the Mario Universe await players in this stunning title.

Super Mario Kart is mindful of F-Zero, but cute. A wonderful kid cart although I found it to get too slow after time. Perhaps a 250cc class would be nice, but no such luck--still a lot of fun though. The two-player mode makes a big difference, however. This was awesome! With limited weapons some serious racing fights could develop. Speaking of fights, the game has a combat mode. I didn't much enjoy this, but many of my friends did. It just didn't click for me. But a neat addition, name-the-boss. Pretty good game.

A contender for F-Zero, this game is just as quick and just as cool.. The graphics are excellent and it handles perfectly. The two-player grand-prix function was an excellent addition. The versus-mode is just too cool. Awesome game and well worth the money.

R.I.P.
Varooma-Zoom-Zoom! This is a top notch racing title. Personally I'd have to say this is the best racing game I've played on the SNES to date, possibly better than F1-ROC. Other great aspects of this game (besides the racing part) are the driving combat mode and the option to choose between so many different vehicles. All of this, plus the split-screen features, allow for hours of driving mania. And it's just as fun in one-player mode as it is in two-player.

Salamander
Something of an F-Zero gone Mario, Super Mario Kart is a very cute game. The grand-prix mode is very entertaining, and the split-screen two-player mode is even more fun. The two-player battle mode can be down right vicious. Super Mario Kart will definitely appeal to younger players, and many older players will probably get a good kick out of it, too. Worth taking a look-see.
