The Final Word game review
Control an armoured standing tank in fierce hand-to-hand combat in Black Hole Assualt for the Sega CD. Defeat alien mechanized warriors in your quest to preserve humankind.
Ferrari Man
How many out there have played Heavy Nova? If you have, you know the concept behind Black Hole Assault. B.H.A. is much better executed--Better response gave a good feel to the characters. The fight speed meter was a nice touch. Unfortunately, 20 minutes after picking up the controller, I solved the game on the most difficult mode! Come on Sega CD programmers, while you boast extra memory with the CD-ROM, all your games have been pathetically short. The two-player mode somewhat revives this title's longevity--But I want more!
????
This game is very mindful of Heavy Nova. I hardly realized it was a CD game. The graphics were average and I'm sorry to say the intermissions were a joke. The play control of the robots was well done. I like the way each planet's gravitational force effects the robot. The two-player function is nice--and fun. Unfortunately, this game isn't going to last too long due to two factors. 1) You get frustrated at dying and quit playing the game, or 2) you beat the game and realize it only took you 25 minutes to solve. It's not that bad of a game, but I don't see why it was put on CD.
R.I.P.
Well, this game was o.k., but it was definitely to short. I don't get into fight games to much, and this game didn't really grab me to well. Great background music and sound effects as well as decent play control make this game worth at least playing once. Also, if you like Heavy Nova I'm sure you'll like this title. This game is definitely worth renting at least once.
Salamander
CD or not CD, that is the question. While Black Hole Assault sported some fancy backgrounds and music, I expect more from a CD title. The two-player mode was amusing, but the one-player mode was rather short. Black Hole Assault is not bad, but should have been saved for cart.
