The Final Word game review
R.I.P.
Well, well, well. I've played it and I can't believe it.
Take the best of Mario Kart 64, and the best of Diddy Kong Racing... blend them together... add some additional improvements, and you've got a darn good kart style racing game.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I fired this game up, but after playing it for several days, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Play control is great, graphics are really good and completely on par with the other Crash titles. Music as well is on par with other titles in the series. The game itself is pretty addictive and as with the other Crash titles, even when you solve it, you've probably still got over 50% of the game left to go back and explore.
My one and only complaint is that I'm not so keen on the having to drive to a special place to save your progress... but then again, that may just be an artifact that they were stuck with from the general Crash game engine. I really expect to be able to save my game at the end of each race, as I leave the race to move on to another track.
Even if you don't buy this game, if you like kart racing games, you should check this out. Also, since there are so few good games on the PlayStation that are really playable by kids, I would recommend that parents who own the system keep this game in mind as a good one to buy for the children. It will even support up to four-players with the addition of a "Multi Tap" adapter.
