 The Final Word game review

Rush 2: Extreme Racing U.S.A. -- Midway/Atari

R.I.P.
Ok, first off, let's start with the petty complaint. What the hell is up with the gratuitous EGM/Nintendo Power billboards?!?! I just refuse to believe that either of these magazines paid a dime to be mentioned in a garbage game like this! On the other hand, do the developers think that this kind of crap will get them a better review? While I'm actually afraid to discover the truth, I can only hope that there is enough integrity left in the writers at those mags that they'll dog this title for what it is.

You may be getting the idea by now that I don't like this game and you would be right. Oh, I didn't hate it at first. In fact, while playing the first track, I had started to resign the game to being just totally average... bordering on bland. But not "bad"...

Then I played the second track... The track where I came in first place at the end of the second lap when I crashed "near" the finish line... Bang! From last place to first, you win! Huh?

Then it just went down hill form there. This game is so buggy and so poorly coded that if they ever put any companies up before a firing squad for releasing bad code, I'd recommend these guys get put in line right after Fox Interactive for releasing The Tick for the SNES.

Play control is nothing exciting, and when you crash, if you hit the "reset the car" button quick enough you can frequently end up a place or two ahead in the pack. In fact if you're on a shortcut when you do it, you may jump ahead significantly on your lap.

This game should be avoided. There are so many good racing games out there these days that need to be played. Go play ANY of them instead of this one! I personally wish I could get back the part of my life that this game stole away from me.
