Mario Party 2 -- Nintendo

R.I.P.
If you enjoyed the first Mario Party title, then this one is an absolute must have. All the best things in Mario Party 1 and then some, along with tons of expanded mini-game action makes this game a total hit for family gaming, or even gaming among kids and their friends.

Graphics and sound are on par with the first game, although I think there were some improvements in visual presentation. Game control was responsive and right on the mark as it should be. In both this one and the first game, several of the mini-games are demanding of precision and/or quick button pressing skills.

The added mini-game only mode was a nice addition for players who just want to focus on the little challenges without the bother of the board game. Although there is still an incentive to play the board game since it is through playing the primary game that you unlock the mini-games.

The board game though is the main focus of the title. Each board is akin to a level in the underlying game story. So you're compelled to play the next board to see what's going to happen in the story, as well as to try and win so that you're character is the focus of the boot screen (being the "Super Star" and all).

I could go on and on about how much fun we had with this title, but I think you've gotten the idea already. If you're looking for a good challenge game to play with 2-3 other people, this one should be at the top of your list.
