The Final Word game review
Champion mankind in the "Final Test" of the Guardian in Ultra Vortek, for the Atari Jaguar. Choose from seven different fighters representing three classes of combatants, each with their own unique battle styles in your struggle to save the earth.
R.I.P.
Oh good grief... just what we needed, another Mortal Kombat rip-off. This platform is to powerful to be doing cheezy 2-D fighters on... Sure, the graphics weren't to bad, and the sound wasn't to bad, and the play-control wasn't to bad... but the game just wasn't very original. The only way I could recommend this game, is to someone who only owns a Jaguar, and let's face it, how many people only own a Jaguar?
Salamander
Uugh! Enough already! While there may be room for a few (note, FEW) more 2-D fighters, Ultra Vortek is cliche at best. The moves are pretty generic, and there are only a small handful of characters to choose from. While Ultra Vortek is technically well-implemented, it lacks the flair necessary to make it interesting in a world with three zillion versions of Street Fighter.
