The Final Word game review
R.I.P.
Imagine my surprise when I realized that the game developers Visual Concepts was listed in the credits (VC is the same group responsible for EA's Viewpoint on the PlayStation), and I'm happy to say that graphically this game lived up to my expectations. Although somewhat grainy, I was impressed with what appeared to be "Mode 7" style floor shifts during combat, as well as reasonable frame counts for character moves during combat. As for playcontrol... well, I felt the game was a bit lacking in this department, feeling a bit squishy for my tastes. Soundwise, you're looking at your standard Genesis fare, and bloodwise... Well, there's gobs of blood in this game. Every time you do major hits to characters, blood just splashes out into the air. Cool... Definitely not one of the best fighters out today, but if you own a Genesis, it's well worth a rental to give it a spin.
