NHL Hockey -- Electronic Arts

Lace up your skates and hit the ice in NHL Hockey for the Sega Genesis. Choose your favorite team and go for the big win in either normal or tournament mode. Up to two players can compete with or against each other in this action-packed sports title.

The NHL was on the money in choosing to sponsor this game. I was thoroughly impressed. A very realistic sound selection made up for a lack of music and gameplay was awesome. The two-player head-on-head mode could be a good way to extend the game's life, because the computer is pretty easy to beat. Overall very well done.

Electronic Arts did it again! This time they made a great hockey game. If your into sports games then this is a must have. The control is fluid and the graphics are fair. The only thing that gets annoying is the grunting as you strike an opponent. The cheering and cat calls are a neat addition. This game will last a long time with its tournament mode. So, pick your favorite team and get a friend to help you play against you.

R.I.P.
Hey! This game is fun. I normally have tended to avoid sports games, but if NHL Hockey is any example of the rest of Electronic Arts sports title line up, I may become an avid fan. Great graphics, very entertaining and realistic crowd noises plus control that (once you get the hang of it) gives you total command of the field. Plus I like how the teams are fair representations of their namesakes in play style. And my favorite feature overall is the fights. You may lose the game, but you can still punch your opponents daylights out before you leave the ice!

I don't normally really "get into" sports titles, but NHL Hockey was a lot of fun. The play control is excellent. You also have wide choice of teams--with realistic stats! The general action is also very realistic. The referee calls actual penalties based on your actions and the crowd is very responsive. Another excellent title from Electronic Arts.
