Slam 'n Jam '95 -- Crystal Dynamics

Floor pounding, slam-dunking, rotoscoped, 3-D basketball action from Crystal Dynamics featuring play-by-play commentary from Van Earl Wright of CNN Sports. Slam 'n Jam '95 is a sporting event supporting up to five simultaneous players on the 3DO.

Ferrari Man
Basketball at its best. Better than NBA Jam, and almost as realistic as going down to the gym -- this title is a big winner. Perhaps the biggest drawback is that I can't play as my favorite team -- or have the actual players. The teams go by city name, and the players names bear no resemblance to the actual star players from the teams. However, even given this drawback, Slam 'n Jam comes through as a massively addictive title. Season play, multi-player features, and a good announcer will keep any player coming back for more. Killer graphics and nice status screen cinematics top off this excellent title. This title comes as "highly recommended".

R.I.P.
No question, this is probably the best basketball game I have ever played on a console... Sure I haven't played them all, but Crystal Dynamics has set a new standard, in my opinion, with this title. Graphics are phenomenal, down to the reflections on the floor, individual details on each player, individual crowd member response, etc... Play control is really precise and allows you to pull off just about any real move you can think of including things like hooking the ball around your back for a pass to another player. The only weak link in the rather solid chain of this game is the sound... specifically the announcer. There are two few game comments recorded, and after you get about 1/2 - 2/3rd through a game, I started to get a bit bored with the redundant commentary. BUT, other than that, the sound gets great marks. If you're a basketball fan who owns a 3DO, you owe it to yourself to check this game out.
