- Capcom out of the arcade biz
[ posted by: R.I.P ]- Well, it appears that the big shake-out that everyone was predicting is in full swing, with no sign of stopping for atleast another year.
- The current victim is Capcom's coin-op division... poof... gone. According to The Nikkei Journal (comparable to the Wall Street Journal in the U.S.), Capcom will be withdrawing from the arcade market. Details are sketchy right now and there hasn't been a formal announcement by Capcom about this yet. The shutdown will be gradual, with continued support for older games still in the market channel, but new releases will likely be stopped before the end of this fiscal quarter.
