The good and the bad...
   [ posted by: R.I.P ]
First off, the good news. We went and saw "The Emperor's New Groove", which also featured a preview for "Atlantis the Lost Empire". Wow, I am so glad to see Disney get their head out of their ass and start cranking out good movies. If you don't see any other movie before the end of the year, go out and see "The Emperor's New Groove". The movie is hilarious and the animation is top notch Disney. I had a lot of fun watching the movie, and my three kids (3, 7, & 9) all had a blast as well... By the way, did you go out and purchase the game for this movie??? If not, what are you waiting for?
Now, onto the bad news. I've about had my fill of trying to play DVD movies on my PS2 system. I've only had one disc play successfully. Two movies "End of Days" and "Galaxy Quest" get about 1/3 - 1/2 into the film and then just start skipping like crazy. Jumping ahead minutes at a skip. The real annoyance here is that both of these discs that skipped, played fine on the stores' DVD system. If it weren't for the fact that skipping was such a problem on Japanese units, I would write it off to a couple of bad used discs. But if this is going to be a regular problem, I'm going to just go and get a dedicated DVD player...
Tell you what, I want to start keeping track of people with skipping problems on their new US (or new Euro) PS2 systems. If you're having problems with DVD playback on your system, drop me an e-mail at "ps2skip@gamezero.com" and tell me about your problems. If I get enough feedback I'll dedicate a page to covering the problem, and see if we can find a solution.
Cheers...
